ATLANTA, GA – Dr. Kristene Kelly, Director of Athletics at Albany State University, was honored today with the Fearless Award at the Inaugural GameChangHer Awards Brunch on the campus of Clark Atlanta University. The event, held as part of the SIAC Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament, recognized dynamic leaders who embody resilience, courage, and a commitment to breaking barriers in sports.
The Fearless Award is presented to an individual who boldly challenges the status quo, paving the way for progress while inspiring others to do the same. Since stepping into the role of Athletic Director at Albany State in July 2023, Dr. Kelly has exemplified fearless leadership, advocating for student-athletes, enhancing resources, and driving positive change within Golden Rams Athletics.
"I am incredibly honored to receive the Fearless Award," said Dr. Kelly. To be recognized for simply doing what I love, advocating, leading, and creating opportunities for others, is humbling. This is purpose -driven work for me, grounded in a commitment to uplift and empower. This award is not just about me; it represents every person who has ever been told they couldn't and still chose to rise. Fearless leadership means showing up, standing firm, and paving the way for the next generation."
Dr. Kelly's impact is evident across all facets of ASU Athletics, from enhancing facilities and securing resources to fostering a culture of excellence, integrity, and opportunity for Golden Ram student-athletes, coaches and staff. Her impact continues to shape the future of HBCU athletics and inspire those who dare to make a difference.
Albany State University Athletics congratulates Dr. Kelly on this well-earned recognition.
