Golden Rams Carry Momentum Into Easter Weekend Slate

Albany, Ga. — As Albany State Athletics heads into Easter weekend, the Golden Rams are building momentum across multiple programs following a week highlighted by a dominant baseball series win and strong showings on the court and track.

Baseball headlined the week with a statement performance, bouncing back from a midweek setback against Columbus State with an impressive three-game sweep over Clark Atlanta. After falling 7-2 earlier in the week, the Golden Rams responded with energy and execution, outscoring the Panthers 31-14 across the series. The offense came alive with timely hitting, power at the plate, and aggressive baserunning, while the pitching staff delivered key outs in critical moments to secure all three victories. The sweep not only showcased Albany State's depth but also set a confident tone as the team continues conference play.

On the tennis courts, the Lady Golden Rams faced a tough non-conference matchup against Middle Georgia. Despite the final score, Albany State found a bright spot in singles play, where Monique Gundrum delivered a strong straight-sets victory at the No. 1 position. Her performance highlighted the team's competitiveness and provided momentum heading back into conference action.

Meanwhile, Albany State's track & field teams turned in one of their most complete performances of the season at the Morehouse Relays in Atlanta. The Lady Golden Rams led the charge with a second-place team finish, powered by multiple event wins and podium performances across sprints, distance, and field events. The men's team also competed at a high level, finishing fourth overall behind several standout individual efforts and relay performances. The weekend reflected the program's depth and continued growth as the outdoor season progresses.

With March coming to a close, Albany State now shifts its focus to a busy and competitive week ahead.
Looking ahead, another busy weekend awaits Albany State athletics. Action begins on Tuesday, March 31, as the Lady Golden Rams softball team hosts Talladega College for a non-conference doubleheader. At the same time, the baseball team remains at home for a midweek matchup against Middle Georgia, looking to carry its offensive momentum into another contest.

Women's tennis returns to conference play with a pivotal stretch at the SIAC Roundup #2 in Mobile, Ala., from April 1-3. The Lady Golden Rams will face a full slate of conference opponents, including Edward Waters, Benedict, Clark Atlanta, Tuskegee, Spring Hill, and Savannah State, in what will be a key opportunity to climb the standings.

Softball continues conference play later in the week, hosting Allen University in a three-game series in Albany. The series opens on Thursday, April 2, with a single game at 6:00 p.m., followed by a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 2:00 p.m.

Track & field remains on the road, traveling to Carrollton, Ga., for the University of West Georgia Legends Invitational on April 3-4. The Golden Rams will look to build on last week's success and continue posting strong marks across events.

Baseball will also return to conference play over the weekend, hitting the road to face Morehouse College in Atlanta. The series begins Friday, April 3, at 3:00 p.m., with a doubleheader scheduled for Saturday at 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.

With momentum building and multiple teams finding their rhythm, Albany State enters Easter weekend poised for another strong stretch of competition across the board.
