Addison and Foster Earn NCBWA All-South Region Honors

Albany, Ga. — Albany State Athletics has once again garnered regional recognition for its impressive 2026 baseball season, as senior Luke Addison and freshman Dereck Foster have both earned spots on the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II All-South Region Team.

Addison was honored as a First Team selection at third base, while Foster made the Second Team as a relief pitcher. Notably, they were among only four student-athletes from the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) to achieve All-Region recognition this season.

These accolades showcase the significant contributions both players made throughout the year, playing pivotal roles in Albany State's achievements on the field. Addison stood out with one of the strongest seasons in the region, establishing himself as a premier corner infielder in Division II baseball. His consistent performance at the plate, combined with his leadership and defensive skills, provided a solid foundation for the Golden Rams lineup throughout the season. This First Team selection adds to Addison's impressive collection of postseason honors, including a recent nod to the ABCA/Rawlings All-South Region First Team.

Foster emerged as a standout relief pitcher during the 2026 campaign, delivering crucial performances under pressure. His ability to close games and maintain stability in late innings was vital to Albany State's overall success this season.

The NCBWA Division II All-Region teams highlight the top student-athletes across the nation, selected by members of the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. The major award winners for the 2026 NCBWA South Region included Zack Stokes from the University of West Florida as Player of the Year, Adrian Byrd of Delta State University as Pitcher of the Year, and Joe Urso from the University of Tampa as Coach of the Year.

Founded in 1962, the NCBWA is committed to advancing college baseball and comprises writers, broadcasters, and sports information professionals nationwide. The organization honors All-America teams, regional awards, preseason accolades, and presents the esteemed Dick Howser Trophy annually to the top player in college baseball.

The recognition of Addison and Foster underscores the ongoing growth and success of Albany State Baseball at both the conference and regional levels.
