Albany State University Athletics Welcomes Marcus Kendrick to Leadership Team

Albany, GA – Albany State University's Department of Athletics is proud to announce the addition of Marcus Kendrick as the new Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Student-Athlete Success. He will officially begin his role on June 16, 2025.

Kendrick brings over a decade of experience across collegiate athletics compliance, student engagement, and enrollment management. His background includes five years in athletic compliance and operations, seven years in fitness and intramural sports, and five years in admissions and recruitment, reflecting ASU's commitment to holistic student-athlete support.

"Marcus brings a unique blend of athletics compliance expertise and campus-wide student affairs experience," said Dr. Kristene Kelly, Director of Athletics. "With a background in admissions and student engagement, he has a rare ability to connect the dots across departments and ensure our student-athletes are positioned to thrive in every aspect of college life, from enrollment to graduation."

Most recently, Kendrick served as Program Coordinator in the Office of Student Leadership and Engagement at Clark Atlanta University, where he led several student development and wellness initiatives. He also held a pivotal role as Compliance Coordinator in Clark Atlanta's Department of Athletics, managing NCAA certification, eligibility, and institutional compliance systems.

Kendrick's resume includes strategic roles in enrollment management at Georgia State University and Clark Atlanta University, where he developed transfer pathways and retention strategies to improve student access and success.

"I am thrilled to be joining the Albany State University Athletics Department," said Kendrick. "It is an honor to contribute to a team that upholds a tradition of excellence. I look forward to supporting our student-athletes and creating a legacy of my own at such a phenomenal institution."

  • Oversaw transition and transfer processes during the integration of Georgia State University's Perimeter College.
  • Designed strategic logistics and sponsorship proposals for Clark Atlanta's Division of Student Affairs.
  • Mentored student leaders and organizations focused on academic achievement and campus engagement.

ABOUT ALBANY STATE ATHLETICS
Albany State University is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II-level intercollegiate athletic program. The university currently fields teams in 11 sports: women's volleyball, women's tennis, women's cross country, men's and women's basketball, softball, men's and women's track and field, women's soccer, baseball, and football. All teams compete in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC), except women's soccer, which participates in the Peach Belt Conference.
