Atlanta, GA - The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its SIAC Football and Volleyball Players of the Week on Tuesday, September 10. They honored student-athletes for their performances in games played during Week One. Among those recognized were Albany State's Isaiah Knowles in football, Sydney Melton, and Kaylin Teasley in volleyball.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – ISAIAH KNOWLES, ALBANY STATE UNIVERSITY
Quarterback | R-Sophomore | Tampa, Fla.
Knowles ranks second in conference passing yards, totaling 479 and averaging 239.5 passing yards per game. He currently has a 68.4 completion percentage and a 155.2 efficiency. Despite the Golden Rams' loss, Knowles completed four passing touchdowns with 262 passing yards.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – SYDNEY MELTON, ALBANY STATE UNIVERSITY
Outside Hitter | Senior | Hoover, Ala.
Melton has appeared in 16 sets, tallying 51 kills, 55 digs, nine blocks, and eight assists for the Lady Golden Rams. In the Bobcats Classic, hosted by Georgia College & State University, the team finished 2-2. Melton recorded three consecutive double-double performances, including a season-high 18 kills, 23 points, and 19 digs against Georgia College. She also ranks second in kills, fifth in hitting percentage, and 10th in digs.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – KAYLIN TEASLEY, ALBANY STATE UNIVERSITY
Middle Blocker | Sophomore | Carrollton, Ga.
Teasley recorded a game-high eight blocks to help the Lady Golden Rams secure their first win over Young-Harris. She also had a strong performance in the loss to Georgia College, recording seven kills and six blocks. Teasley, who leads the conference in blocks, has recorded 24 kills, four aces, 12 digs, and 21 blocks this season.Â
