Albany State Athletics Names Addison Browder Assistant Director of Strategic Communications

Albany, Ga. — Albany State University Athletics has announced the appointment of Addison Browder as Assistant Director of Strategic Communications. Browder's position is funded through the NCAA Division II Internship Grant, which supports full-time, one-year professional development opportunities within athletics communications.

The grant offers essential support to Albany State's athletics communications team, especially during peak seasons with overlapping events, while also creating opportunities for aspiring professionals in the field. In this position, Browder will act as the primary sport contact for assigned programs and will assist with comprehensive communications across Golden Rams Athletics.

"This hire is about more than adding another staff member. It's about continuing to build a department that tells our story the right way," said Dr. Kristene Kelly, Director of Athletics.  "We're grateful to the NCAA Division II Internship Grant Committee for selecting Albany State to receive this opportunity and for investing in the future of our department. I'm excited to welcome Addison to Albany State Athletics and look forward to the impact he'll have on elevating the Golden Rams brand and the experience of our student-athletes."

As the Assistant Director of Strategic Communications, Browder will manage game coverage, handle statistics, maintain historical records, oversee media relations, and manage reporting for both the conference and the NCAA. Additionally, he will assist with onsite communications during games, coordinate workflows, and lead storytelling initiatives aimed at enhancing the visibility of Albany State's student-athletes and programs.

"We are thrilled to welcome Addison to our strategic communications team," said Ms. Terica Peay, the Assistant Athletic Director for Strategic Communication. "Addison's presence will help us continually improve and demonstrate our commitment to nurturing the next generation of professionals in college sports."

Browder comes to Albany State with a well-rounded background in athletics communications, event management, and sports administration. Most recently, he worked with the Atlanta Braves as part of the Ballpark Management Team and Event Operations Logistics staff, where he played a crucial role in game-day operations at Truist Park, helping to ensure a great fan experience.

Before that, he served as a Sports Information/Marketing Graduate Assistant at the University of West Georgia. In this role, he managed game-day operations, crafted feature stories, handled statistical data, and supported website and social media content across various athletic programs. His responsibilities also included supervising undergraduate assistants and contributing to various departmental communication efforts.

Browder's experience extends to roles in event operations at The Coliseum at the University of West Georgia, athletic internships at Central Carroll High School, and early-career roles in equipment management, recruiting, and digital media with Georgia Knights Prep Academy. Through these diverse experiences, he has built a strong foundation in operations, communications, and engagement with student-athletes.

At Albany State, Browder will have a vital role in supporting communications across all 12 varsity sports, contributing to the development of digital content, coordinating media efforts, and managing statistical reporting while ensuring the department remains dedicated to accuracy, efficiency, and storytelling excellence.
