After a couple of close games, the Albany State Golden Rams soccer team earned their first win of the season after defeating the Allen University Yellow Jackets (3-1) on Wednesday evening at the ASU West Campus Soccer Complex. With the win, the Golden Rams improved to (1-6) overall while the Yellow Jackets fell to (1-7).Â

The Golden Rams scored their first goal when
Reilley Bain connected from deep at the 5:20 mark in the 1
st period.

The Yellow Jackets responded when Tatyana Machado scored at the 16:46 mark in the 1
st period to tie the score (1-1).

Payton Johnson scored on a penalty kick at the 39:19 mark to put the Golden Rams ahead (2-1).

Jordyn Keene extended the Golden Rams lead to (3-1) after she connected on a kick assisted by
Payton Johnson at the 46:19 mark.

The Golden Rams finished with 15 shots, 5 saves and 3 corner kicks. The Yellow Jackets finished with 12 shots, 5 saves and 5 corner kicks.

The Golden Rams will be back in action when they travel to play USC Beaufort at 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 30, in Beaufort, South Carolina.
