Albany, Ga. — Two Albany State University student-athletes have been selected to participate in the Cisco & World Wide Technology (WWT) Career Discovery Week, a competitive, fully funded professional development experience scheduled for March 8–11, 2026, in Washington, D.C.
Sagine Atis, a member of the women's soccer team, and Milan Harris, a member of the volleyball team, were chosen following a rigorous application and interview process coordinated by Scholar-AthELITE. The program brings together 40–50 high-performing junior and senior student-athletes from universities across the country, representing Power Four institutions, HBCUs, and high-academic programs.
Career Discovery Week is designed to help student-athletes translate championship intangibles, such as leadership, teamwork, resilience, and accountability, into corporate success. Participants will engage directly with executives and hiring leaders from Cisco and World Wide Technology through leadership development sessions, real-world business simulations, company overviews, and structured networking focused on internship and full-time career pathways in technology, sales, innovation, and executive leadership.
"Opportunities like this are a powerful example of what #CreatingLegacies looks like in action," said Dr. Kristene Kelly, Director of Athletics. "Sagine and Milan have earned this through their focus in the classroom, their leadership, and how they show up every day. We're proud to see them represent Albany State and excited for them to experience what's possible beyond athletics."
In addition to immersive corporate engagement, the experience serves as the first stage of a broader talent pipeline that includes mentorship, evaluation, summer internship opportunities, and potential full-time placement following graduation.
Selected students will complete a multi-week preparation process ahead of the trip, focusing on professional confidence, company research, interview readiness, and readiness to compete in high-level professional environments.
Additional updates, including photos and reflections from the experience, will be shared following the trip.
