Lady Golden Rams Fall to Clayton State in Midweek Conference Match

MORROW, Ga. – The Albany State women's soccer team battled hard but ultimately fell 4-1 to Clayton State University on Wednesday evening at Laker Field. With the loss, the Lady Golden Rams move to 2-10-1 overall and 0-7-1 in Peach Belt Conference play.

The Lakers got off to a fast start, netting three goals in the first half before adding another early in the second. Albany State, however, showed resilience, responding with a goal in the 55th minute when freshman Sinatra Vaughn scored off an assist from Jada Goodman, marking the Rams' lone goal of the contest. Despite creating several promising opportunities with six total shots (five on goal), the Rams could not overcome Clayton State's offensive surge.

Goalkeeper Leire Rodriguez Najera was strong in the net, recording eight saves on 25 shots faced while anchoring the defense through the full 90 minutes. Offensively, Vaughn, Goodman, and Adjoa Mensah each registered a shot on goal, with Emmi Sullivan and Taylor Holmes helping to control the midfield tempo.

Up next, the Lady Golden Rams return home for their final home match of the season, hosting Flagler on Saturday, October 25, at 3:00 PM inside the ASU Soccer Complex.
