The Albany State University Golden Rams baseball team beat the Benedict College Tigers 12-1 on Saturday to complete the 3-game sweep.
The Golden Rams improved to 24-8 (23-3 in the SIAC) while the Tigers fell to 5-33 (2-23 in the SIAC). The Golden Rams have now won 12 out of their last 13 games.
The Golden Rams got on the board in the 3
rd inning when Ross singled to center field to score Fisher.
McConnell's double to left field scored the Golden Rams lone run in the 5
th inning.
The Golden Rams bats came alive in the 7
th inning when they erupted for 5 runs to break away from the Tigers. Ross scored after an error was made by the Tigers that allowed Corley to get on base. Bell scored after Thomas reached base on a fielder's choice. Ross singled to left field to score a run in the 7
th inning. Hernandez and Lloyd singled to score runs in the inning.
The Golden Rams added 3 more runs in the 8
th inning. Ross doubled to left field to score Brooks and Corley to end the game.
Brady Davis got the win for the Golden Rams. Davis improved to (3-0) on the season.
The Golden Rams will travel to Savannah to play a pivotal 3-game series against the Savannah State Tigers on April 22-23. First pitch is scheduled at 6:00 pm on Friday, April 22.
