ASU Athletics announces spring academic success list
 
The Albany State University Department of Athletics has announced its' Spring 2012 S.A.M.E. (Student-Athletes Maintaining Excellence) List. The list is divided into two categories- the Athletic Director's Honor Roll and the Coaches's Honor Roll.  The Athletic Director's Honor Roll recognizes the student-athletes who achieved grade-point averages between 3.5-4.0. The Coaches's Honor Roll is generated for the student-athletes whose GPAs are between 3.0-3.49.
 
"We are very proud of the effort these student-athletes put forth in the classroom during the spring semester," said. Dr. Richard Williams, director of athletics. "Our numbers increased from last semester, and it is evident that these student-athletes are committed to academic excellence. I commend them on a job well done."    
 
The AD's Honor Roll features 21 student-athletes, while the Coaches's Honor Roll lists a total of 49.  Junior men's track & field runner Elontavius White garnered the highest male GPA of the student-athletes.  Women's softball player Vanessa Jones had the top GPA on the women's side.
