Golden Rams Build Momentum Across the Board Heading Into Weekend

Albany, Ga - As Albany State Athletics heads into Easter weekend, the Golden Rams carry strong momentum across multiple programs following an eventful and productive week of competition.

Baseball set the tone early with a solid 6-3 non-conference win over Middle Georgia, showcasing timely hitting and depth on the mound. The Golden Rams then turned their attention to conference play on the road against Morehouse, where they bounced back in a big way after a tough Game 1. Albany State responded with back-to-back wins, powering past Morehouse 22-8 and 11-5 to secure the series victory. The offensive production was a highlight all weekend, with the Golden Rams stringing together clutch hits and big innings to stay in control.

On the diamond, the Lady Golden Rams softball team continued its dominant stretch, putting together a flawless week. Albany State opened with an emphatic sweep of Talladega, outscoring its opponent 29-4 across two games. The momentum carried into conference play, where the Lady Golden Rams extended their winning ways with a three-game sweep over Allen. Albany State's offense remained explosive, highlighted by a 23-run performance in the series finale, while the pitching staff consistently kept opponents in check. It was a complete team effort that reinforced their position as one of the top teams in the conference.

The women's tennis team competed in the SIAC Roundup, showing resilience and growth throughout the multi-day event. The Lady Golden Rams earned a strong 4-1 victory over Benedict, highlighting their ability to capitalize on key moments in both doubles and singles play. Despite falling in other matchups, the team continued to battle and gain valuable experience against conference competition as the season came to a close.

Track & Field also delivered a strong showing at the University of West Georgia Legends Invitational. The Lady Golden Rams led the way with a second-place team finish, fueled by standout performances on both the track and in the field. The men's team added to the success with a fourth-place finish, highlighted by strong sprinting, hurdling, and field event performances.
