Albany, Ga.- Momentum continues to build for Albany State University as the spring championship season enters its final stretch. After an impressive week highlighted by dominant performances in baseball, softball, and track & field, the Golden Rams now turn their attention toward postseason competition with conference titles and national qualification opportunities on the line.
Last week showcased the depth and success of Albany State athletics as several programs delivered standout performances heading into championship play.
The Golden Rams baseball team wrapped up the regular season on a high note, enjoying a successful week highlighted by a strong series against conference foes. After suffering a 12-3 loss to GSW, Albany State quickly regrouped and bounced back in impressive style. They went on to achieve three straight victories over Tuskegee, outscoring their opponents 53-16 throughout the series. The Golden Rams began with a commanding 13-0 shutout, followed by a spectacular 23-8 win and a solid 17-8 finale. This offensive surge showcased the team's rhythm as they headed into postseason play, giving them much-needed consistency at the plate and boosting their confidence ahead of the conference tournament.
Similarly, the Albany State softball team maintained its momentum with two convincing wins against Trinity College. The Lady Golden Rams started with a 2-0 shutout and capped off the series with a dominating 12-2 victory. The team displayed a perfect blend of strong pitching and timely hitting, refining their skills as they prepared for postseason action.
Meanwhile, Albany State's track and field programs also shined at the SIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, delivering one of their best collective performances this year. Both the men's and women's teams claimed the runner-up spots, finishing second in the team standings. The men's squad showed impressive depth across a variety of events, while the women's team upheld its strong tradition with several outstanding finishes. These runner-up placements solidified Albany State's reputation as one of the top track and field programs in the conference.
This week marks one of the most important stretches of the athletic calendar as postseason competition intensifies.

The week begins with the SIAC Softball Championship Tournament in Columbus from April 27-29. Albany State enters the tournament as the No. 1 seed from the East Division after capturing the Eastern Division title during the regular season.
The Lady Golden Rams open tournament play against LeMoyne-Owen in the first round, with first pitch scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Albany State enters postseason play carrying momentum from a strong finish to the regular season and will look to convert that success into a championship run.
Following softball, attention shifts to the diamond once again as the SIAC Baseball Championship Tournament begins April 30 through May 3 at Luther Williams Field in Macon.
The Golden Rams enter the tournament with championship aspirations and the added motivation of defending last season's title. Albany State will aim to continue its recent offensive momentum while pursuing another conference crown to bring back to the Good Life City.
Track & field remains active as postseason opportunities continue beyond the conference championships. Following a strong SIAC showing, Albany State will travel to Jacksonville for the East Coast Relays hosted by the University of North Florida on May 1-2. The meet presents another opportunity for athletes to improve qualifying marks as the Golden Rams continue chasing NCAA national championship berths.

Albany State University is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II-level intercollegiate athletic program.
