Albany, Ga. - As the calendar turns toward postseason competition, Albany State Athletics continues to build momentum across multiple programs, highlighted by strong performances on the baseball and softball diamonds and an exciting week ahead for Golden Rams teams.
Last week, Golden Rams Baseball delivered an impressive showing, bouncing back from a tough midweek contest to dominate conference play. Albany State dropped a high-scoring matchup to Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, 14-11, but quickly regrouped and responded in a big way. In their home conference series against Miles College, the Golden Rams put together a commanding sweep, showcasing both offensive firepower and resilience. Albany State opened with a decisive 15-1 victory before following it up with an 18-2 win in game two of the doubleheader. The series finale proved to be the most thrilling, as the Golden Rams battled back to secure a 15-11 victory, completing the sweep and closing out their home conference slate on a high note.
On the softball side, the Lady Golden Rams also showed resilience and competitiveness during a busy week. Albany State faced Georgia Southwestern in non-conference action, falling 9-3, but quickly turned the page, heading into a pivotal conference series against rival Fort Valley State. The Lady Golden Rams responded with back-to-back wins to open the series, securing an 8-3 victory in game one and a thrilling 6-5 extra-inning win in game two. Albany State capped off the weekend by claiming the series despite a narrow 4-3 loss in the finale, demonstrating consistency and the ability to compete in close contests. Strong pitching performances and timely offensive execution highlighted the series win, as the Lady Golden Rams continued to position themselves well heading into the final stretch of the season.
