Golden Rams Debut at No. 8 in NCBWA South Region Top 10 Poll

Albany, Ga. — The Albany State baseball team continues to gain national recognition as the Golden Rams have entered the 2026 NCBWA South Region Poll at No. 8, marking the program's first appearance in the rankings this season.
 
Albany State holds a 13–7 overall record and climbed into the top ten after previously receiving votes in the regional poll. The ranking reflects the Golden Rams' strong play early in the season, highlighted by a recent three-game series sweep over Savannah State and several impressive performances on the field.
 
The 2026 NCBWA South Region Poll is led by Tampa at No. 1, followed by West Alabama, Rollins, Trevecca, and West Florida to round out the top five. Delta State sits at No. 6, Eckerd moved up to No. 7, and Albany State claimed the No. 8 position. Lee and Spring Hill complete the top ten.
 
The Golden Rams' rise in the rankings is a testament to the team's balanced success both offensively and on the mound. Albany State has received key contributions throughout the lineup while the pitching staff has delivered strong performances in critical moments, helping the program build momentum as conference play intensifies.
 
With the season continuing to unfold, Albany State will look to maintain its strong play and continue climbing the regional rankings as the Golden Rams compete against some of the top programs in the South Region.

ABOUT ALBANY STATE ATHLETICS
Albany State University is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II-level intercollegiate athletic program. The university currently fields teams in 11 sports: women's volleyball, women's tennis, women's cross country, men's and women's basketball, softball, men's and women's track and field, women's soccer, baseball, and football, with all teams competing in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC), except women's soccer, which participates in the Peach Belt Conference.
