Albany, Ga. - Albany State athletics continues to build momentum as multiple programs delivered strong performances last week, setting the stage for another exciting slate of competition ahead.
The baseball team finished last week with a 2-2 record, highlighted by a win over Georgia Southwestern and a key victory in Game 2 against Spring Hill. After dropping the series opener, the Golden Rams showcased resilience with a strong offensive performance. Softball had a perfect week at 5-0, sweeping Baptist University and Benedict College, demonstrating explosive offense and efficient pitching.
On the hardwood, the women's basketball team secured a thrilling first-round victory over Kentucky State in the SIAC Championship Tournament, advancing to the quarterfinals. The men's basketball team concluded its season in Memphis, losing a close first-round matchup to LeMoyne-Owen.
Women's tennis opened its 2026 campaign at the SIAC Round #1 Tournament in Orlando, Fla. Despite going 0-6, the young squad gained valuable experience for the season ahead.

This week begins on the road as the baseball team travels to Cochran, Ga., for a non-conference matchup against Middle Georgia on Tuesday. The contest marks the first-ever meeting between the two programs, offering the Golden Rams an opportunity to make history while sharpening their form before returning to conference play.
Women's basketball continues its postseason run on Wednesday, March 4, as the Lady Golden Rams face Edward Waters in the quarterfinal round of the SIAC Basketball Championship Tournament. The matchup will take place in Morrow, Ga., at The Arena at Southlake. Edward Waters currently holds a 2-0 series lead over Albany State this season, setting up a highly anticipated third meeting with tournament stakes on the line.
Women's tennis returns to action on Thursday, March 5, traveling to Tifton, Ga., for a non-conference matchup as the Lady Golden Rams continue to build momentum early in the season.
The week concludes with a major conference showdown at home as both baseball and softball host Savannah State in a three-game series. Albany State University is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II-level intercollegiate athletic program.
