Golden Rams Athletics Weekly Preview: Momentum Builds Across Programs

Albany, Ga. — Albany State Athletics enters the week riding a wave of confidence after an exciting stretch of competition. Baseball extended its winning streak with strong performances against Lynn University and LeMoyne-Owen College, while Softball remained perfect at 4-0, securing victories over Baptist University (Fla.) and Wesleyan College. On the hardwood, Women's Basketball earned a key win over Tuskegee University before battling through tough matchups against Allen University and Benedict College. Meanwhile, Men's Basketball rebounded from an early setback to Tuskegee, finishing the week on a high note with statement wins over Allen and Benedict. The week opens on Monday, February 23, as Baseball returns to the West Campus Baseball Field to face LeMoyne-Owen College in Game 3 of the conference series. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.

Albany State will then hit the road Tuesday, February 24, traveling to Americus, Ga., for a non-conference showdown with Georgia Southwestern State University at 6:00 p.m. Later in the week, the Golden Rams head to Mobile, Ala., for a pivotal SIAC weekend series against Spring Hill College on February 27-28.

Softball returns home briefly on Tuesday, February 24, to host a doubleheader rematch against Baptist University (Fla.) at the West Campus Softball Field. First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m. Following the midweek contest, the Lady Golden Rams open conference play on the road, traveling to Columbia, S.C., for a weekend SIAC series against Benedict College beginning February 28.

Basketball postseason play also begins this week as the SIAC Championship Tournament tips off on February 28. The Lady Golden Rams will travel to Kentucky State University in Frankfort, Ky., while the Golden Rams prepare for a first-round matchup against LeMoyne-Owen College in Memphis, Tenn. Both teams look to carry late-season momentum into tournament competition.
