Albany, GA – Albany State University Athletics and Head Coach
Jason Bryant are pleased to announce the hiring of Jeff Ellis as the new Assistant Softball Coach and Academic Coordinator for the Lady Golden Rams softball program. Coach Ellis brings over two decades of collegiate coaching experience and a proven track record of success at both the NJCAA and NCAA levels.
Coach Ellis most recently served as the Head Softball Coach at South Georgia State College from 2021 to 2025, where he significantly revitalized the program, increasing its win total by over 400%. Under his leadership, the team achieved the title of the third-most improved program at the NJCAA Division I level based on winning percentage.
Before this, Ellis led Polk State College to four Suncoast Conference Championships and was named Conference Coach of the Year four times, compiling an impressive overall record of 265–173 during his tenure. In total, he has amassed 324 career wins and has developed numerous All-Americans and award-winning players throughout his coaching career. Ellis's experience also includes assistant coaching roles at Lynn University, Siena College, and Indian River State College, among others.

With four conference titles and over 300 career wins, his coaching pedigree is exceptional. I look forward to his contributions to the Albany State Softball Program."
In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Ellis will serve as Academic Coordinator, supporting the academic progress and success of student-athletes within the program. He holds a Bachelor's degree in History from Sacred Heart University and a Master's in Sports Management from Lynn University.
Coach Ellis's extensive experience, leadership, and dedication to student-athlete development are expected to make an immediate impact as the Lady Golden Rams continue to build a championship-caliber program on and off the field.

ABOUT ALBANY STATE ATHLETICS
Albany State University is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II-level intercollegiate athletic program. The university currently fields teams in 11 sports: women's volleyball, women's tennis, women's cross country, men's and women's basketball, softball, men's and women's track and field, women's soccer, baseball, and football. All teams compete in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC), except women's soccer, which participates in the Peach Belt Conference.
