Dr. Chinenye Ofodile, Ph.D., Chair of the Department of Mathematics, Computer Science, and Physics and Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR), has been selected as one of the distinguished participants in the 2025 NCAA Division II Faculty Athletics Representative Fellows Institute. Dr. Ofodile will represent Albany State at the 15th Division II FAR Fellows Institute (20th Institute overall), scheduled to take place September 26–28, 2025, in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Dr. Ofodile is a respected professor of mathematics, Director of the ASU Math Tournament, and a dedicated advocate for student-athlete success both academically and athletically. His selection to this prestigious NCAA institute reflects his leadership, commitment to excellence, and the integral role he plays in shaping the experience of Golden Ram student-athletes.
The Division II FAR Fellows Institute provides an intensive professional development experience for a select group of experienced FARs. The program is designed to strengthen the ability of Faculty Athletics Representatives to fulfill their essential roles in Division II athletics effectively. Through in-depth workshops, case studies, and strategic discussions, participants refine their leadership skills, enhance institutional compliance strategies, and foster best practices in student-athlete advocacy and academic integrity.

ABOUT ALBANY STATE ATHLETICS
Albany State University is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II-level intercollegiate athletic program. The university currently field teams in 11 sports: women's volleyball, women's tennis, women's cross country, men's and women's basketball, softball, men's and women's track and field, women's soccer, baseball, and football. All teams compete in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC), except women's soccer, which participates in the Peach Belt Conference.
