ALBANY, GA – The Albany State Golden Rams came up short in their rematch against Georgia Southwestern, falling 8-2 at the West Campus Baseball Field. With the loss, Albany State drops to 11-11 on the season, while the Hurricanes improve to 16-8.
Georgia Southwestern took control early, scoring six runs in the third inning to build a commanding lead. The Hurricanes' offense collected 14 hits, highlighted by a three-run home run from Paul Hegeman that helped break the game open. The Golden Rams struggled to generate offense against GSW's starter Fordham (2-0), who tossed six scoreless innings with eight strikeouts.
Albany State's runs came late in the game, with
Emory Stephens delivering an RBI double in the seventh inning and A. Roberts driving in a run in the ninth. However, it wasn't enough to overcome the deficit.
Sebastian Griffeth (1-1) took the loss, allowing five earned runs in just over two innings.

The Golden Rams will look to bounce back as they resume conference play with a three-game series against Edward Waters in Jacksonville, FL. The series begins with a 5 PM single game on Friday, March 14, followed by a doubleheader on Saturday, March 15, starting at 1 PM.
