Albany State Women’s Tennis Set to Open Season Against Middle Georgia State

Albany, GA – The Albany State University Women's Tennis Team is set to begin its 2025 season with a highly anticipated matchup against Middle Georgia State University on Friday, February 21 at the MGA Tennis Courts in Macon, GA. First serve is scheduled for 1:00 PM, marking the first-ever meeting between the two programs.

The Golden Rams enter the new season with high expectations after an impressive 2024 campaign, which saw them advance to the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Semifinals. Despite falling 4-2 to Clark Atlanta in a hard-fought semifinal, ASU pushed Spring Hill College to the brink in the third-place match, ultimately coming up short in a 4-3 battle. Now, with a fresh start in 2025, Albany State is eager to make an early statement.

Meanwhile, Middle Georgia State heads into the contest with momentum, having already played several matches this season. The Lady Knights boast a 5-3 record and are coming off a dominant 7-0 sweep over Georgia Southwestern State on February 20. With match experience already under their belt, MGA will present a strong challenge for the Golden Rams in their season opener.

With this being ASU's first match of the season, finding rhythm quickly will be essential against an opponent that has already built momentum. Albany State will rely on its experienced players to set the tone and lead the team in this tough opening matchup.
