Albany, Ga. — The Albany State Lady Golden Rams displayed resilience and individual skill despite a 6-1 defeat against Middle Georgia State. The match was highlighted by an outstanding performance in singles play and ongoing improvement across the lineup.
Leading the charge for Albany State was
Monique Gundrum, who delivered an impressive performance at No. 1 singles. Gundrum controlled her match from start to finish, winning in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4, against Ainhoa del Moral. Her victory secured the Lady Golden Rams' only point of the day and showcased her ability to compete at a high level against formidable opponents.
In doubles action, the Lady Golden Rams continued to develop their experience and teamwork while facing a challenging Middle Georgia lineup. The duo of Gundrum and
Brooklyn Bowen at No. 1 doubles fought hard throughout their match, demonstrating determination and moments of strong coordination. Similarly, the teams of
Ameerah Mesidor and
Le'Ashia Miller, along with
Autumn Bryant and
Jada Conley, worked diligently to gain essential match experience that will be crucial as the season progresses.
Throughout singles play, Albany State remained competitive and fought hard in every position. The experience gained from competing against a talented opponent will serve as a solid foundation for the Lady Golden Rams as they continue to refine their skills and build confidence heading into conference competition.

The Lady Golden Rams will return to conference play as they travel to Mobile, Ala., for the SIAC Roundup #2. The tournament is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, April 1, and conclude on Friday, April 3.
