Gundrum Shines as Lady Golden Rams Continue to Build Against Middle Georgia

Albany, Ga. — The Albany State Lady Golden Rams displayed resilience and individual skill despite a 6-1 defeat against Middle Georgia State. The match was highlighted by an outstanding performance in singles play and ongoing improvement across the lineup.

Leading the charge for Albany State was Monique Gundrum, who delivered an impressive performance at No. 1 singles. Gundrum controlled her match from start to finish, winning in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4, against Ainhoa del Moral. Her victory secured the Lady Golden Rams' only point of the day and showcased her ability to compete at a high level against formidable opponents.

In doubles action, the Lady Golden Rams continued to develop their experience and teamwork while facing a challenging Middle Georgia lineup. The duo of Gundrum and Brooklyn Bowen at No. 1 doubles fought hard throughout their match, demonstrating determination and moments of strong coordination. Similarly, the teams of Ameerah Mesidor and Le'Ashia Miller, along with Autumn Bryant and Jada Conley, worked diligently to gain essential match experience that will be crucial as the season progresses.

Throughout singles play, Albany State remained competitive and fought hard in every position. The experience gained from competing against a talented opponent will serve as a solid foundation for the Lady Golden Rams as they continue to refine their skills and build confidence heading into conference competition.

With strong leadership at the top of the lineup and invaluable lessons learned across the board, Albany State is focused on growth and development as they move forward.
The Lady Golden Rams will return to conference play as they travel to Mobile, Ala., for the SIAC Roundup #2. The tournament is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, April 1, and conclude on Friday, April 3.
