Golden Rams Baseball Get Huge Win Against Cougars

Golden Rams Baseball Beat Columbus State (7-5) Wednesday afternoon at Ragsdale Field. With the win, the Rams record stands at 1-1 on the season.

CSU scored two runs in the bottom of the second thanks to an Ian King two-run RBI single to left field. However, ASU scored four runs off of a bases loaded walk and three-run RBI double by Quintard Wright in the fourth to take a 4-2 lead over the Cougars.

Cody Ferguson answered back in the next half of the inning, singling to left field to plate King from third. The Rams responded, scoring three more runs in the fifth, making it a 7-3 ballgame. 

Derek Wylie hit a solo homerun to left center in the seventh and a bases loaded walk by Seth Nelson in the ninth put the Cougars just two runs behind the Rams.

Zane Ross led the offense with two hits and two Runs. Calvin Baker got the win with five strikeouts and Ben Steward received the loss on the mound after 3.2 innings pitched and striking out five batters. 

William Beasley received the save after pitching the 9th innings to a victory.
