For the second day in a row, the Albany State Golden Rams softball team split with the Montreat Cavaliers on the ASU West Campus on Sunday afternoon. The Golden Rams split the 4-game series with the Cavaliers and are now (2-2) overall on the season. The Cavaliers are also (2-2) overall.
In game 1, the Cavaliers defeated the Golden Rams (3-1). The Golden Rams finished with 1 run and 11 hits against the Cavaliers.
The Golden Rams only score came when Morgan Brown hit a sacrifice fly to right field that scored
Madison Hurt.
Waddell pitched 7 innings and earned the win for the Cavaliers. In her first start, Kylie Barnett was the losing pitcher for the Golden Rams.
In game 2, the Golden Rams beat the Cavaliers (7-4). The Golden Rams finished with 11 hits against the Cavaliers.
The Golden Rams scored 2 runs in the 1
st inning when Romona McLeod singled to center field.
In the 3
rd inning, Keyatta Ayers hit a triple to center field that scored a run to give the Golden Rams a (3-1) lead. Romona McLeod and
Glory Seay also hit singles in the 3
rd inning to drive in runs for the Golden Rams.
The Golden Rams scored their 7
th run when Keyatta Ayers hit a single in the 4
th inning to score Tyjanae Brown and Jasmine Russell.
Mackenzie Chamblee won her first game of the season. Chamblee pitched 5 innings and allowed 6 hits and 3 runs.
