The Albany State women and men's basketball teams were defeated by the Benedict Tigers at the ASU West Campus Arena on Saturday afternoon.  The Golden Rams women lost (81-60) while the men were defeated (68-59). 
 
The Golden Rams women's team fell to (6-10) overall and (4-6) in the SIAC.  The Tigers women improved to (4-11) overall and (2-7) in the SIAC. 
 
After a sluggish start to the game, the Benedict Tigers led (18-15) at the end of the 1^st quarter.  The Tigers made 8/13 from the 3-point line to take a (44-30) lead at the half. 
 
After trailing by 16 points early in the 3^rd quarter, the Golden Rams closed the gap to (51-41) with 4:29 remaining in the quarter.  Benedict regrouped after a timeout and led (63-48) at the end of the quarter.  The Tigers remained in control throughout the 4^th quarter and cruised to a (81-60) win.
 
Kashay Hankerson led the Golden Rams with 14 points and 5 rebounds.  Unique Miller contributed with 10 points and 7 rebounds.  Chelsea Hill added 10 points.
 
Mahogany Randall led the Tigers with 18 points and 4 assists.  Madison Golden finished with 17 points and 7 rebounds.  Amaya Ashby contributed with 15 points and 5 rebounds.  Mayalah Montgomery added 13 points and 5 assists.  Jazmin Grayson contributed with 11 points.
 
With the loss, the Golden Rams men's team fell to (3-13) overall and (3-7) in the SIAC.  The Tigers men's team improved to (8-7) overall and (6-4) in the SIAC.  
 
The Golden Rams and Tigers exchanged leads throughout the first 20 minutes of the game.  At the half, the Golden Rams and Tigers were tied (30-30). 
 
The Golden Rams shot 40% from the field in the 1^st half while the Tigers made 42.9% of their field goals.
 
The Tigers eventually pulled away late in the 2^nd half and defeated the Golden Rams (68-59) in the battle of SIAC East rivals. 
 
Sammie Mike led the Golden Rams with 16 points and 7 rebounds.  Travis Baker contributed with 13 points off the bench while Malik Parker added 12 points.
 
Malachi McCoy led the Tigers with 18 points and 13 rebounds.  Brandon Smith finished with 12 points and 4 rebounds.  Tim Moore added 11 points in the win.
