GOLDEN RAMS PLACE SECOND AT MGA INVITATIONAL

MACON- Albany State University's Zackary Johnson claimed a second place finish at the Middle Georgia Invitational held Saturday morning.

Johnson finished with a time of 29:36.2, second to only Gabriel Hogan of Ave Maria University who topped the field with a time of 28:19.0.

The 8k race featured a field of 43 competitors from six teams. Ave Maria was followed by ASU, Point University, Brewton-Parker, Oxford College and Georgia Military College.

For the Golden Rams, senior Chaz Berry placed sixth with a time of 30:31.8 while Joshua Ajiero put up a time of 31:45.4, good for eleventh overall. Freshmen runners Rodney Tookes and Joshua Stapleton rounded out the field of Albany State, placing 29th and 30th, respectively.

As a team the Golden Rams registered 62 points with a total time of 2:44:32 (32:54 average).

Ave Maria swept both the men's and women's races on Saturday. The men's team had a point total of 34 with six runners finishing in the top twenty.

Albany State will return to the course on Saturday in the Jaguar Cross Country Invitational hosted by Augusta University. The meet will begin at 8:10am and will take place at Redcliffe Plantation in Beech Island, SC.
