VALDOSTA, Ga. (September 6, 2019)- The Albany State University Men's Cross Country team wrapped their season opener with a sixth place finish at the Valdosta State Border Clash held Friday afternoon at Freedom Park.

The Golden Rams' top individual performance came courtesy of junior
Zackary Johnson who placed 29
th overall to put 28 points on the board for ASU. Johnson posted a time of 26:19.3, an average of 5:50.5 per mile.
Demetrius Carson came in at 64
th place (29:37.3) while his teammate
Joshua Stapleton followed to slots back at 72
ndwith a time of 31:29.0.
Albany State scored 202 points and finished with a team average of 28:38 (2:23:11 total) in the 7.25k run.
The University of Tampa topped the 11 team field by claiming four of the top ten finishes on the afternoon. Tampa's Trevor Kattenburg led all runners with a time of 23:43.7.
The Golden Rams will return to action on September 14, 2019 as they travel to Dahlonega, GA to compete in the University of North Georgia Invitational.
