GOLDEN RAMS TAKE THREE GAME SERIES WITH CLARK-ATLANTA

ASU One Game Out of First Place in Eastern Division

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 ATLANTA-The Albany State Golden Rams earned a three-game series sweep over Clark-Atlanta University March 30-31 at Panther Stadium.

ASU now sits in second place behind Paine College in the SIAC Eastern Division, sporting a 14-13 overall record with a 6-3 mark in conference play. The Golden Rams breezed by the Panthers in games one and three of the SIAC set winning 15-1 and 16-1. respectively.

In the first game of Saturday's doubleheader the Rams never trailed but held off CAU for a 4-2 victory.

In the series opener, the two teams were tied 1-1 through four complete. ASU then opened the game up with a four-run, fifth inning. Nic Griggs hit a one out, three RBI homer and later Quantico Dodson-Williams drew a bases loaded walk to give the Rams a 5-1 lead.

The bottom fell out for the Panthers in the top of the sixth where ASU went on to score a whopping 10 runs on only 4 hits and 2 CAU errors.

In game one of Saturday's doubleheader, the Panthers went scoreless through four and a half, and found themselves trailing 3-1. CAU put up a run in each of the next two at bats but the Golden Rams scored on a wild pitch in their final at bat and held the Panthers in the bottom of the seventh to close out the game.

The final game saw ASU plate runs in every inning to trounce the Panthers 16-1. The Golden Rams got home runs from Riliani Familia, Avery Roth, Trey McMillan and Dodson-Williams to complete the series sweep.

The Golden Rams combined for 32 hits in the three-game series.

ASU will return to action on April 4^th when they play host to Georgia Southwestern in a single game. First pitch is scheduled for 5pm at West Campus Field.
