VALDOSTA — The Albany State baseball team scored four runs in the top of the eighth inning Wednesday to rally past Valdosta State for a 10-6 victory and win for the 20th time in the last 23 games.
ASU starter Allen Fender was yanked in the first inning after walking four and allowing four runs with just one out, but relievers Sam Fielding and Theodore Tramontana combined to allow two runs and six hits the rest of the way as ASU mounted its comeback.
Robert Latner and Joseph Virgo led the Rams with two RBIs, while Ryan Latner, Jacob Campbell, Allen Hardy, Sable Gilliard and Jeromy Arrington all drove in one run. The Rams (26-15) finished the regular season 2-1 against Valdosta State (21-15).
ASU, which is undefeated in the SIAC, returns to conference play Saturday with a doubleheader at home against Paine College.
