Golden Rams ranked eighth in 1st regional poll

ALBANY, Ga. The Albany State Golden Rams football team is ranked 8th in the first NCAA Super Region 2 Football Region Rankings. The poll was announced Monday by the NCAA.

The Golden Rams (5-2 overall, 5-0 in the SIAC) are one of four SIAC teams ranked in the poll. Tuskegee has the highest ranking at No. 4.  Miles is ranked ninth, and Fort Valley State is right behind at No. 10.

North Alabama out of the Gulf South Conference is the top-ranked team in the regional. Lenoir-Rhyne from the South Atlantic Conference is No. 2, followed by Delta State at No. 3. Valdosta State is No. 5, followed by West Georgia (No. 6) and Carson-Newman (No. 7).

The top six teams in the final rankings will advance to the 2014 NCAA Division II playoffs. The Super Region 2 rankings will be released each week until the playoff rankings are announced on Sunday, November 16th.
