ALBANY, Ga. — Albany State University Athletics head football coach
David Bowser has announced the hiring of Ashley Jones as Director of Football Operations for the Golden Rams football program, effective April 1, 2026.
Jones transitions into the role from her position as Women's Basketball Program Coordinator within Albany State University Athletics, where she oversaw day-to-day operations, including team logistics, academic coordination, and program support for the Lady Golden Rams.
"Ashley has been impressive since the moment I arrived on campus," said Bowser. "Her attention to detail, work ethic, and understanding of how a program operates behind the scenes stood out immediately."
Her appointment marks a return to the football program, where she previously served as the lead video coordinator as a student. In that role, Jones supported film operations and assisted the coaching staff, gaining valuable experience that laid the foundation for her continued growth in athletics administration.
"The Director of Football Operations role is critical to our success," Bowser added. "I'm confident she is the right person to help move our program forward."
In addition to her experience at Albany State, Jones has worked with the nationally recognized Valdosta High School football program, further strengthening her background in football operations.
A 2025 graduate of Albany State, Jones earned her bachelor's degree in communication in just three years. During her time as a student, she served as an athletics administrative intern while continuing her work with the football program.
"Ashley's journey is exactly what we hope to see for our young professionals," said Director of Athletics
Dr. Kristene Kelly. "From student worker to intern to full-time staff member, she has taken advantage of every opportunity and continues to grow."
Her experience also includes working with ESPN+ as a camera operator and assisting with various behind-the-scenes production responsibilities.
Jones is currently pursuing her master's degree in sports management at Georgia Southern University.
Committed to her professional development, Jones recently completed the NCAA Emerging Leaders Seminar, where she identified becoming a Director of Football Operations as a key career goal. "We're proud of Ashley and excited to see her step into this role," Kelly added.
"I'm thankful for the opportunity to return to the football program in this role," said Jones. "Albany State has poured so much into me, and I'm excited to continue learning and supporting our student-athletes and coaching staff however I can."
A native of Valdosta, Ga., Jones is a member of Alpha Phi Omega and Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.
