ALBANY, Ga. – Head Football Coach
David Bowser has announced the addition of two key members to his coaching staff, naming
Graham Hobbs as Offensive Coordinator and
Tony McWhite as Defensive Backs Coach.
Hobbs brings significant collegiate coaching experience in Division I and HBCU football. Currently the Pass Game Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach at Virginia Union University since February 2025, he has over a decade of expertise in developing dynamic offenses and standout student-athletes. Before VUU, he served as Offensive Coordinator at the University of the South (Sewanee) from 2023 to 2024, leading an offense that produced back-to-back SAA Newcomers of the Year, including quarterback Jacorin Thomas, who amassed over 1,400 rushing yards and 2,000 passing yards. Under his leadership, the Sewanee offense recorded five touchdown passes in a single game, setting a school record. Hobbs has also held coaching roles at Saint Augustine's University, Western Carolina, East Carolina, Marshall, North Carolina Central, and Florida International, developing all-conference players and supporting student-athlete success through recruiting, game planning, and academic liaison work.
"Coach Hobbs brings energy, experience, and a proven ability to develop offensive talent," said Bowser. "He understands how to build explosive units and recruit at a high level."
McWhite joins the Golden Rams with a strong background in player development and sports performance. He most recently served as a Strength & Conditioning Intern at Georgia Tech and previously held roles at Mississippi Valley State University, where he worked in sports performance and defensive quality control. McWhite also coached defensive backs at the high school level while leading academic support initiatives for student-athletes.
"Tony understands both development and discipline," Bowser said. "His experience in strength and conditioning, combined with his defensive background, will elevate our secondary."
Hobbs and McWhite join previously announced staff members
Markus McElveen,
Marcus Hilliard, and Chris Holmes as Bowser continues to assemble his leadership team.
Bowser has also retained members of the previous staff, including Ryan Petrasek, Kahari Love, Elijah Washington, and
Anthony Kelly, ensuring continuity within the program.
Both Hobbs and McWhite will officially begin their roles on Monday, February 23.
The final addition to the football staff, a Director of Football Operations, will be announced at a later date.
With these additions, Albany State Football continues its momentum heading into the upcoming season under Bowser's leadership.
