SOUTH FULTON, Ga. — The Albany State University women's tennis team put together an impressive showing at the 25th Annual HBCU National Tennis Championships in South Fulton, Georgia, finishing second overall in the Division II women's team standings and bringing home two individual flight championships.
Brooklyn Bowen led the Golden Rams in singles competition, capturing the Division II Women's Flight C championship. Bowen's performance earned Albany State one of its two titles during the championship.
Joanne Fernandes also made a strong run in singles play, finishing second in Division II Flight B, while Ameerah Mesidor earned a runner-up finish in Division II Flight C. Monique Gundrum rounded out Albany State's top singles performances with a third-place finish in Division II Flight A.
The Golden Rams continued their success in doubles competition as Gundrum and Fernandes teamed up to win the Division II Women's Flight A championship.
Bowen and Mesidor added another top finish for Albany State in doubles action, placing second in Division II Flight B.
In total, Albany State recorded six top-three finishes across singles and doubles competition, including championships from Bowen in singles and the doubles tandem of Gundrum and Fernandes.
The strong collection of performances helped the Golden Rams secure second place in the overall Division II women's team standings.
