Tranasia Parker Named One of NCAA Division II’s Top Freshman Hitters

Albany, Ga. — Albany State freshman softball standout Tranasia Parker is gaining national recognition as one of the top players in her class. The NCAA has named her one of the Top 10 Freshman Hitters Lighting It Up in Division II Softball, as highlighted in a feature released on March 28, 2026.

A native of Gray, Georgia, and a graduate of Jones County High School, Parker has made an immediate impact in her first season with the Lady Golden Rams, emerging as one of the most dangerous hitters in the SIAC and across Division II.

Through the first 27 games of her collegiate career, Parker is batting an impressive .441 with a team-best 1.563 OPS. She currently leads the SIAC with a 1.076 slugging percentage and has launched a conference-best 11 home runs—also the most among all Division II freshmen. Her power at the plate has been a major boost for an Albany State lineup that saw limited home run production a season ago.

Parker's consistency and explosiveness have been equally remarkable. She is averaging a home run once every six at-bats and has driven in the second-most runs on the team, proving to be a reliable run producer in the heart of the lineup.

Rankings so far this season:
  • 8th in Home Runs (leading the SIAC)
  • 3rd in Slugging Percentage (leading the SIAC)
  • 2nd in the SIAC for Total Bases
  • 4th in the SIAC for RBI's Per Game
Her emergence, alongside returning power hitter Avery Fisher, has transformed Albany State's offensive presence. After hitting just 13 home runs as a team last season, the Lady Golden Rams have found a new level of production, helping fuel a strong 21-6 start to the year.

With Parker continuing to deliver at a high level, Albany State is well-positioned for continued success as the season progresses.
