Box Score 2 Birmingham, Ala. — The Albany State Lady Golden Rams wrapped up day two of the SIAC Softball Crossover Tournament with a 1–1 record, falling to Tuskegee University 3–0 before responding with a dominant 10–0 victory over Lane College later in the afternoon.
Game 1: Albany State 0 – Tuskegee 3
Albany State opened the day against Tuskegee in a tightly contested matchup that featured strong pitching on both sides. The Lady Golden Rams had limited opportunities offensively but continued to battle throughout the game.
Olivia Mason led Albany State at the plate with the team's lone hit, while
Avery Fisher showed patience at the plate by drawing two walks to keep pressure on the Tuskegee defense.
In the circle,
Tamia Pierce delivered a solid performance for the Lady Golden Rams, pitching a complete seven innings. Pierce allowed three runs on seven hits, issued one walk, and recorded two strikeouts while keeping Albany State within reach throughout the contest.
Despite the loss in the opener, the Lady Golden Rams quickly regrouped and delivered an explosive offensive performance against Lane College.
Game 2: Lane 0 - Albany State 10
Albany State wasted little time getting on the scoreboard when Abbi Jones executed a bunt single that brought
Erielle Reid home for the game's first run. The Lady Golden Rams broke the game open in the third inning when
Avery Fisher blasted a triple, clearing the bases and scoring
Genevieve Taylor,
Erielle Reid, and Ari McKenzie to extend the lead. Fisher later crossed the plate on another single from Jones, pushing Albany State ahead 5–0.
The Lady Golden Rams continued to build momentum in the fourth inning as Reid delivered an RBI single to score Taylor, stretching the lead to six runs. Fisher continued her standout performance with her second triple of the game, driving in two additional runs before scoring again on a bunt from Jones.
Albany State capped the scoring when
Amari Mapps doubled to drive in
Ja'Niah Drake, giving the Lady Golden Rams a commanding 10–0 advantage to secure the run-rule victory.
Several Lady Golden Rams turned in strong performances at the plate.
Avery Fisher led the way with two hits, two runs, and four RBIs, while
Erielle Reid added two hits, three runs, and an RBI. Abbi Jones finished with two hits and three RBIs,
Genevieve Taylor recorded three hits and two runs, and Ari McKenzie added a hit and two runs.
In the circle, Kenzie Fitch earned the win for Albany State, pitching 4.2 scoreless innings while allowing six hits and striking out two batters to secure the victory.
Up next, the Lady Golden Rams will close out tournament play on day three of the SIAC Softball Crossover on Thursday. Albany State is scheduled to face LeMoyne-Owen College at 10:00 a.m. before taking on Kentucky State University at 5:30 p.m.
