Golden Rams Set for Packed Week of Conference Showdowns and A Home Opener

ALBANY, Ga. — Albany State enters another busy stretch of competition as basketball, baseball, and softball gear up for a week loaded with key conference matchups and exciting home contests. The Golden Rams ride into the week with momentum after a performance-filled slate that featured several standout moments. Baseball closed last week with a strong 3-1 mark, rebounding from a tough battle against Columbus State to sweep Kentucky State. Meanwhile, the Lady Golden Rams softball team delivered a flawless 4-0 week, highlighted by a sweep of Talladega and victories over Bowie State and Virginia State at the 3rd Annual HBCU Collegiate Classic. Men's and Women's Basketball concluded the week 1-1 each after battling Miles and Spring Hill. Action begins Monday, February 16, as Albany State hosts Tuskegee University for a conference basketball doubleheader inside the Jones Brothers HPER Complex. The evening will carry special significance as Albany State celebrates the Play4Kay/Breast Cancer Awareness Pink Game. The Golden Rams will look to even the season series after Tuskegee claimed both meetings earlier this semester. Across campus, Golden Rams baseball opens the week with a non-conference test against Lynn University. The matchup rekindles memories of last season's postseason clash in Tampa, where Albany State captured its first playoff win in program history.

On Tuesday, February 17, the Lady Golden Rams softball team makes its long-awaited home debut, welcoming Baptist University of Florida for a non-conference doubleheader. The meeting marks the first-ever contest between the two programs, and Albany State will aim to carry its early-season rhythm into its home opener.

Basketball returns to conference play Thursday, February 19, when Albany State hosts Allen University in a doubleheader themed Greek Night. Albany State swept the Yellow Jackets in their previous meeting in December and will seek another strong showing as the regular season nears its conclusion.

The week wraps up with a full weekend schedule across multiple sports. On Saturday, February 21, the Lady Golden Rams softball team heads to Macon, Ga., for a doubleheader against Wesleyan College. Golden Rams baseball returns to conference action with a three-game series against LeMoyne-Owen College. Saturday's doubleheader begins at 1:00 p.m., followed by a Sunday single game at noon.

Also on Saturday, Albany State basketball hosts Benedict College for the regular-season finale and Senior Day inside the HPER Complex. With postseason positioning and senior celebrations in focus, the Golden Rams will look to close the home slate with energy and purpose.
