Golden Rams Complete Clean Sweep of Kentucky State with 13–1 Victory

Albany, Ga. — Albany State capped off its conference-opening series in commanding fashion this afternoon, defeating Kentucky State 13–1 to secure a clean sweep. With the victory, the Golden Rams improved to 4–4 overall and a perfect 3–0 in SIAC play.

From the opening pitch, Albany State established control and never looked back.

The Golden Rams exploded for four runs in the first inning, immediately seizing momentum. A trio of wild pitches allowed David Cooper to cross the plate for the game's first run, while Tyler Turner added an RBI groundout. Emory Stephens followed with a sacrifice fly, and David Kile punctuated the inning with an RBI triple, giving Albany State a 4–0 lead.

Albany State continued to apply pressure in the second and third innings. Jaden Camp scored on a wild pitch in the second, extending the advantage. The third inning saw the Golden Rams widen the gap with five more runs, highlighted by RBI plays from Camp, Turner, Grover, and Stephens. Patient at-bats and aggressive baserunning kept Kentucky State on its heels as Albany State built a 10–0 cushion.

Luke Addison delivered another key swing in the fourth inning, ripping a two-run double to push the lead to 12–0. Stephens later added to his standout afternoon, scoring again in the fifth as the Golden Rams stretched the margin to 13–0.

Kentucky State managed its lone run in the seventh inning, but Albany State's dominance remained unquestioned. The Golden Rams controlled the contest at the plate and from the mound, winning every inning and showcasing a complete team performance.

Stephens helped anchor the offense, scoring twice and driving in two runs. Addison added two hits and two RBIs, while Payne scored three times and collected two hits. Kile contributed two hits, including his first-inning RBI triple, and Camp drove in a run.

On the mound, Jeremiah Reddell earned the win with three strong innings, allowing no runs while scattering two hits. The Golden Rams' bullpen was equally sharp, as Luke Hayes, Chase Ledger, and Andrew Keown combined to maintain Albany State's command of the game. Hayes delivered two scoreless innings, striking out two.

With momentum firmly on their side, the Golden Rams now turn their attention to a non-conference matchup.
