Covington, Ga. — Albany State's Lady Golden Rams turned in a strong and spirited performance at the 3rd Annual HBCU Collegiate Classic, securing a pair of hard-fought victories and showcasing resilience, timely hitting, and composure under pressure.
Albany State 8 – Bowie State 7
Albany State got out to a 4-run lead in the first inning and held on for an 8-7 victory over Bowie State University.

Kyla Fitch and
Tranasia Parker each drew bases-loaded walks, while
Aniyah Dixon delivered a two-run single. Albany State added another run in the second on a passed ball to extend the lead to 5–1.
Bowie State rallied to take the lead in the fourth, and Albany State answered with composure. Parker's solo home run ignited the response, and a late defensive miscue by Bowie State allowed the Lady Golden Rams to even the score at seven. Dixon paced Albany State with three RBIs, while Avrey Fisher and Abbi Jones each recorded multi-hit performances. The Lady Rams' patience at the plate produced six walks, and their aggressive baserunning resulted in six stolen bases, key factors in sealing the hard-fought win.
Albany State 10 – Virginia State 6
Albany State Softball earned an impressive 10–6 victory over Virginia State on Saturday, fueled by timely hitting and a strong showing from the bottom of the lineup.
Brielle Thompson, Olivia Mason, and
Tranasia Parker combined for six hits, six runs scored, and key offensive production. Parker led the way with a three-hit performance, highlighted by a two-run home run in the fourth inning. The Lady Golden Rams struck early, with Ari McKenzie and
Erielle Reid delivering RBI singles to build an early advantage.
After Virginia State mounted a mid-game rally, Albany State responded with poise. Reid helped spark the equalizer in the sixth inning, and the Lady Golden Rams surged ahead for good in the seventh behind clutch hitting and aggressive baserunning. McKenzie drove in three runs, Thompson and Reid recorded multi-hit games, and Albany State's disciplined approach at the plate produced five walks. In the circle,
Kye Gordon was outstanding in relief, tossing 3.2 scoreless innings to secure the win.
Albany State was scheduled to close out the classic against Southern University, but unforeseeable delays prevented the contest from being played. The Lady Golden Rams left Covington with valuable momentum and confidence, building on their early-season progress and demonstrating their competitive edge against fellow HBCU programs.
