Albany, Ga. – The Albany State University women's volleyball team will return to action at home for the first time this season when they welcome the Middle Georgia State Lady Knights on Tuesday, Sept. 16, at 6:00 p.m. inside the Jones Brothers HPER Complex.
Match Information:
The Lady Golden Rams enter their home opener after a challenging start to the season, posting an 0-8 record following two tough weekends of tournament play at the Bobcat Classic and the UNC Pembroke Invitational. Despite the early results, Albany State has shown flashes of growth and resilience, led by standouts
Jarianis Perez,
Josiya Teague,
Shaniya Banks, and libero
Talia Smith. The home crowd and familiar court provide the Golden Rams with a prime opportunity to reset and compete for their first victory of the 2025 campaign.
Middle Georgia State comes into the matchup looking to rebound after back-to-back losses to Emmanuel University and Life University over the weekend. Like the Golden Rams, the Lady Knights are eager to get back on track, making this matchup an important early-season test for both programs.
Series History: Albany State holds a 4-1 series lead over Middle Georgia dating back to Sept. 6, 2019. The Golden Rams won the first four meetings before the Lady Knights snapped the streak on Oct. 8, 2024, in a hard-fought 3-2 victory. Tuesday's contest will mark the sixth all-time meeting between the two programs.
