Columbus, GA – The Albany State Track & Field teams kicked off their 2025 outdoor season with an impressive showing at the JD Evilsizer Invitational, hosted by Columbus State University. While the meet was non-scored, the Golden Rams delivered several top finishes and strong individual performances to set the tone for the season.
Sprint & Hurdle Events
Men's Sprints & Hurdles:
- Tyler Mapson had a standout meet, winning the 200m (21.55) and finishing third in the 100m (10.83).
- Mohammed Bah took first place in the 110m hurdles, clocking 15.02 seconds in a strong debut.
- Kibren Moore claimed victory in the 400m (48.24), with Jordan Smith placing third (50.24).
Women's Sprints & Hurdles:
Distance Events
- Jonathan Kelly claimed first place in the men's 800m (1:56.12), setting the tone for ASU's middle-distance runners.
- Zenay Rhaney won the women's 1500m (5:20.35), while Azzaria Brown placed second in the 3000m (12:25.68).
- Sage Abdullah led the men's 3000m with a fifth-place finish (9:38.40).
Relay Dominance
The Golden Rams won both the men's and women's 4x400m relays, with the men's 'B' team running 3:19.88 and the women's 'B' team posting 3:58.68.

- Julianna Kern won the women's high jump (1.60m), clearing 5'3" with ease.
- Mykhayla Carroll dominated the discus throw (42.67m) to claim first place and also placed fourth in the shotput (10.88m).

Albany State University is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II-level intercollegiate athletic program. The university currently field teams in 11 sports: women's volleyball, women's tennis, women's cross country, men's and women's basketball, softball, men's and women's track and field, women's soccer, baseball, and football.
