Golden Rams Send Six Entries to NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships

Albany, Ga. — Albany State Athletics is set to make a strong impression on the national stage, as several members of both the Men's and Women's Track & Field programs have officially earned spots to compete in the 2026 NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships. This prestigious championship meet is scheduled for May 21-24 at Francis G. Welch Stadium in Emporia, where some of the nation's top collegiate athletes will vie for NCAA Division II national titles.

On the women's side, junior sprinters Cadence Cray and Chavondria Crimes have been selected to compete in the fiercely competitive women's 100-meter dash after delivering standout performances throughout the outdoor season. Cray has also secured a second national qualification in the women's 200-meter dash, solidifying her reputation as one of the region's premier sprinters.

In addition to the individual events, Albany State's women's 4x100-meter relay team has earned a berth at the national championship meet. This relay squad, featuring Chavondria Crimes, Cadence Cray, Princess Okoye, and TyAsia Brown, will represent the Golden Rams after consistently showcasing impressive performances against formidable competition.

On the men's side, sophomore Adoni Nembhard-Belcher has received a national selection in the men's 400-meter dash, following an outstanding outdoor season marked by impressive speed, consistency, and strong finishes. Nembhard-Belcher will also be a crucial member of Albany State's men's 4x100-meter relay team, which secured its place at nationals by posting stellar qualifying performances during the outdoor campaign. This relay group includes Demario Jackson, Jace Weaver, Sanaljay Bentley, and Adoni Nembhard-Belcher.

These selections underscore the remarkable growth and success of Albany State Track & Field on the national stage. Competing at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships represents a pinnacle achievement in collegiate track and field, reflecting the hard work, discipline, and dedication of the student-athletes and coaching staff throughout the season.

Now, the Golden Rams are shifting their focus toward preparing for the national stage, aiming to compete among the best in Division II and continue building on the momentum of another successful year for Albany State Track & Field.

ABOUT ALBANY STATE ATHLETICS
Albany State University is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II-level intercollegiate athletic program. The university currently fields teams in 11 sports: women's volleyball, women's tennis, women's cross country, men's and women's basketball, softball, men's and women's track and field, women's soccer, baseball, and football, with all teams competing in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC), except women's soccer, which participates in the Peach Belt Conference.
