Albany, GA – The Albany State Golden Rams are set to begin 2025 with an exciting Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) double-header on Thursday, January 2, as they host the Lane College Dragons at The Arena on West Campus. Both teams will look to start the new year strong in conference play. The Lady Golden Rams tip off at 5:30 PM, with the men's game following at 7:30 PM.
Women's Preview: Lady Golden Rams vs. Lady Dragons
The Lady Golden Rams (3-5, 1-3 SIAC) enter the matchup with momentum after back-to-back road wins against Central State (Dec. 9) and Trinity Baptist (Dec. 12). Albany State will look to build on their improved play as they return to conference action at home.
The Lady Dragons (7-4, 3-2 SIAC) are coming off a mixed stretch, falling to Savannah State (Dec. 16) before rebounding with a win over Clark Atlanta (Dec. 19). Lane's balanced attack has proven effective, but the Lady Golden Rams will aim to slow them down with strong defense and execution.
In their last meeting on March 6, 2024, Albany State edged Lane 56-51 in a hard-fought contest. With both teams eager to establish themselves in the SIAC standings, fans can expect another competitive battle.
Men's Preview: Golden Rams vs. Dragons
The Golden Rams (6-6, 3-2 SIAC) return to action riding high after their thrilling 72-69 New Year's Eve victory over Shorter University. With confidence, Albany State looks to avenge last season's 69-80 loss to Lane on March 3, 2024.
Lane (2-9, 2-4 SIAC) comes into the game after a tough 73-79 loss to Morehouse College (Dec. 21). Despite their record, the Dragons have shown resilience and the ability to compete with top teams, making them a dangerous opponent.
