In her fourth consecutive appearance at the NCAA DII Track & Field Championships, Sydney Blackburn is determined to secure a victory this year. Blackburn will compete in the discus throw on Friday, May 24th. The event is scheduled to begin at 5:30 PM EST, with Blackburn set to throw in the second flight.
Ranked 7th overall, Blackburn is coming off an impressive runner-up finish at the 2023 Track & Field Championships. This season, she has demonstrated relentless determination, aiming to etch her name in the NCAA record books as a discus champion.
A native of Pompano Beach, FL, Blackburn is a 3-time NCAA All-American, 3-time Conference Champion, and the SIAC Conference and Albany State University record holder. Adding a national championship to her accolades would cap off a stellar career, solidifying her legacy as one of the most dominant throwers in school history. Blackburn is a spring 2024 graduate of Albany State University and will continue her education at Florida A&M University this fall, majoring in occupational therapy.
