Columbia, S.C. - The Albany State Track & Field programs delivered an outstanding three-day performance at the SIAC Track & Field Championships, with both the men's and women's teams earning runner-up finishes after a strong showing across field and track events.

Competing against the conference's top talent, the Lady Golden Rams totaled 200 points to secure second place overall, while the Golden Rams men's team recorded 126 points to also finish second. Across three days of competition, Albany State consistently appeared atop podium finishes, highlighted by conference champions, award winners, and record-setting performances.

The championship meet also featured major individual recognition for Albany State, as Kaylee Holloway was named Women's Field Performer of the Year, while Adoni Nembhard-Belcher earned Men's Elite 16 honors for his excellence in competition and academics.

Day One: Strong Start in the Field Events

Albany State opened the championships on Tuesday with an immediate impact in the women's hammer throw.

Kaylee Holloway continued her dominant season by capturing the conference title in the event, setting the tone for what would become a standout championship performance. Sataria Cantrell added valuable points with a second-place finish, giving Albany State an early advantage in the team standings.

The Lady Golden Rams' strong field-event presence became a recurring theme throughout the meet.

Day Two: Holloway Continues Dominance

On Wednesday, Holloway added to her remarkable championship resume with two additional conference titles.

She claimed first place in the women's discus and shot put, further solidifying her status as one of the conference's most dominant field athletes. Her consistent excellence across multiple throwing events played a critical role in Albany State's climb up the leaderboard.

On the men's side, Azwan Nembhard-Belcher delivered a strong performance in the triple jump, earning a runner-up finish and key points for the Golden Rams.

Day Three: Albany State Shines on Championship Thursday

Thursday's finals showcased Albany State's depth and championship-level talent across both track and field events.

In the women's high jump, Cadence Tanner secured a conference title, while teammate Savannah Sparks added another podium finish with third place.

The Lady Golden Rams sprint relay team captured one of the day's biggest victories, winning the women's 4x100-meter relay in a time of 45.07. The men followed with another relay championship, taking first place in the 4x100-meter relay with an impressive 40.04 finish.

Distance events also produced strong performances for Albany State. Bangally Touray claimed the men's 1,500-meter title, while Rayshawn Goodman contributed valuable points with a third-place finish. Brea Vann earned podium finishes in both the women's 1,500-meter and 5,000-meter races.

Albany State showcased exceptional sprint depth throughout the day.

Cadence Cray captured the women's 100-meter title, leading a one-two finish alongside teammate Chavondria Crimes. Cray returned later to win the 200-meter dash, while TyAsia Brown secured second place to give Albany State another dominant finish.

On the men's side, Adoni Nembhard-Belcher delivered one of the meet's top performances. He won the men's 400-meter dash before returning to claim another conference title in the 200-meter dash, capping a stellar championship showing.
Mohamed Bah also had a standout day, placing second in the 110-meter hurdles before winning the 400-meter hurdles, contributing critical points to the men's runner-up finish.

Additional scoring performances included Jace Weaver placing third in the men's 100-meter dash, Rayshawn Goodman finishing third in the 800 meters, and Skye Zwirner earning third in the women's javelin throw.

The women's 4x400-meter relay team added another podium finish by placing third to close out the championships.

The Lady Golden Rams' second-place finish was powered by dominant field performances, relay success, and elite sprint depth, while the men relied on strong relay performances, sprint champions, and consistent scoring across multiple disciplines.

Albany State will next return to competition at the East Coast Relays hosted by the University of North Florida on May 1–2 in Jacksonville.
