Atlanta, Ga. - The Albany State men's and women's track & field teams delivered a strong and competitive showing at the Emory Spring Break Classic in Atlanta, Georgia, competing over two days against a diverse and talented field representing NCAA Division II, NAIA, Conference Carolinas, NESCAC, DIII New England, AARTFC, and NCAC programs. Facing high-level competition across multiple classifications, the Golden Rams rose to the challenge with several standout performances on both the track and in the field.

On the men's side, Albany State showcased its speed and depth, highlighted by a dominant performance in the 4x100-meter relay. The quartet of
Demario Jackson,
Jace Weaver,
Sanaljay Bentley, and
Amos Oruamabo surged to a first-place finish with a time of 40.70, setting the tone for a strong weekend. Individually,
Sanaljay Bentley continued his impressive sprint campaign, placing fourth in the 100 meters with a time of 10.58 and adding a sixth-place finish in the 200 meters at 21.58.
Adoni Nembhard-Belcher also delivered a solid performance, finishing fifth in both the 200 meters (21.40) and 400 meters (47.72), demonstrating consistency across sprint events.

The middle-distance group proved to be a major strength for the Golden Rams, as Albany State claimed the top two spots in the 800 meters.
Rayshawn Goodman led the way with a first-place finish in 1:55.14, while
Bangally Touray followed closely behind in second at 1:55.66, showcasing the team's depth and control in the event. In the field events,
Michael Trimble added to the scoring effort with a sixth-place finish in the discus, recording a throw of 45.21 meters.

The women's team matched that momentum with a series of impressive performances across multiple events. In the sprints, Chavondria Crimes delivered one of the top performances of the meet, finishing second in the 100 meters with a time of 11.70, an NCAA Division II qualifying mark.
Cadence Cray also had a strong outing, placing fourth in the 100 meters (11.77) and second in the 200 meters with a time of 24.37.

Distance standout
Faith Thompson led the way in the 5000 meters, capturing first place with a time of 19:27.60 in a commanding performance. The hurdles group also made a significant impact, with
DeAna Albert finishing second in the 100-meter hurdles (14.35), followed closely by
Mayah Thompson in third (14.67) and
Cadence Tanner in fourth (14.75).
Mayah Thompson added another top finish in the 400-meter hurdles, placing fourth with a time of 1:05.1.

In relay action, the women's 4x100-meter team of Crimes,
Jeniya Lawrence,
Princess Okoye, and TyAsia Brown secured a second-place finish with a time of 46.82, continuing Albany State's strong presence in sprint relays. In the field events, freshman standout
Kaylee Holloway led the way with an exceptional performance, placing first in the discus with a throw of 44.86 meters and second in the shot put at 13.09 meters.
Cadence Tanner also contributed in the field, finishing fifth in the high jump with a mark of 1.55 meters.

Up next, Albany State will look to build on this momentum as they return to Atlanta for their next competition at the Annual Morehouse Relays, hosted by Morehouse College.

Albany State University is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II-level intercollegiate athletic program.
