, Ga. – The Golden Rams had some new faces step to the front in this weekend's action. Albany State saw Jonathan Kelly power the effort with a 400-meter title and two other runner-up placings at the Georgia Southern Relays.

On Friday, Kelly raced his way to his 400-meter event win in a time of 49.75, over 2.23 seconds faster than his runner-up teammate Tyler Mapson (51.52). Kelly followed up with a second-place leap of 1.83 meter in the high jump and ran second in the 800 meters (1:57.53).

Along with Kelly's one event win, Micah Forsythe grabbed the 110-meter hurdles title on Saturday in 16.73 seconds. The Golden Ram also placed fifth in both the high jump (1.60m) and long jump (5.61m) as well as eighth for the long jump at 5.61m and 400 meters (57.29).

In the event team standings, ASU narrowly missed the runner-up place by two points for third place with 111 points. Brewton Parker won the team title with 200 points, while USC-Beaufort had 113 in second.

Back to the track, Khali Madison picked up the Golden Rams' other second place with his run in 10:55.34 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, before he was fourth in the 800 meters (2:02.86). Along with his second in the 400 meters, Mapson claimed fourth in the 100-meter dash (11.40), while Demario Jackson was right behind in fifth (11.55). Rounding out the track effort, Micah Harris finished sixth in the 1,500 meters (4:41.09).

In the field events, Isaac Moody guided the ASU effort. Moody threw to the second-place finish in the hammer throw at 40.12 meters. He was also third in the shot put (13.25m) and fifth in the discus (36.62m). Joining Moody in three event placings, Tyler Nonnombre produced a fourth in the shot put (13.10m) and fifth in the javelin (31.00m) after a seventh in the hammer throw on Friday covering 30.98 meters. Tre'von Williams threw the javelin 27.61 meters for sixth and Maurice McDonald was seventh in the shot put (12.35m).

ASU returns to action this Thursday through Saturday (March 28-30) at the Morehouse College Relays.
