ATLANTA, Ga. – There was a clear top performer in the last two days on the track. Albany State's Kibren Moore captured four golds with top placings in both the 100 and 200-meter sprints and led both the two Golden Ram first-place relay teams to highlight the efforts at the Emory University Opener over Friday and Saturday.
On Friday, Moore raced his way to the top 200-meter finish by 0.76 of a second to win in 20.78. The Golden Ram sprinter added the 100-meter title on Saturday in 10.14. He teamed up with Jayvon Hutchinson, Jordan Smith and Ed Gilbert in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 40.70. In the final first place, Moore ran the lead-off leg of the 4x400-meter relay with Smith, Gilbert and Jonathan Kelly in a winning time of 3:15.39.
Moore and ASU totaled 78 team points in the two-day event for sixth place of the 18-team field. Host Emory won the team standings with 102 points with Reinhardt in second (98.5).
Along with Moore, Gilbert sprinted his way to third place in both sprints with a time of 21.74 in the 200 and a 10.36 time for the 100. Tyler Mapson also took sixth in the 200 meters (21.96).
The 4x400-meter relay anchor leg, Kelly ran to a fourth place finish in the 400 meters in 49.50.
In the hurdles, Hutchinson produced the field's best performance of 14.77 for first place in the 110-meter hurdles. Smith ran his time of 53.89 for third in the other hurdle distance of 400 meters.
For the field events, Isaac Moody threw 42.00 meters for eighth in the hammer throw. Maurice McDonald had a 12.57-meter distance for the shot put and Moody was at 12.50 meters for ninth and 10th in the shot put.
The Golden Rams return to action next Friday, March 22, at the Georgia Southern Relays.
