The Quinn Gray Era will officially begin when the Albany State Golden Rams open the 2023 football season on the road against the Wingate Bulldogs at 4:00 pm at Irwin Belk Stadium on Friday, September 1, in Wingate, North Carolina.
 
The Golden Rams were picked to finish #2 in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC).  A total of 6 Golden Rams made the 2023 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) preseason football team.  Josh Simon and Jaree Turner were named to the All SIAC First Team.  Kamran Ward, Dionte Bonneau, Jalen Pugh and Rashad Jordan were named to the All SIAC Second Team.
 
In 2022, the Golden Rams finished (7-3) overall.  The Golden Rams were (5-2) in the SIAC.
 
The Wingate Bulldogs were picked to finish #2 in the preseason South Atlantic Conference football poll.  A total of four Bulldogs earned preseason all-conference accolades.  Jaquan Edwards, Tre Morrison, Jaheim Mullen and Marquise Fleming are preseason All-SAC Piedmont Division honorees.
 
In 2022, the Bulldogs finished (11-3).  The Bulldogs were (7-2) in the conference and went (3-2) at home.
