Albany State University Track & Field standout Sydney Blackburn was crowned as the 2023 NCAA DII Track and Field Runner-up in the Discus at the 2023 Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Colorado State University-Pueblo in Pueblo, Colorado.  Sydney posted a throw of 49.93m in the Women's Discus.  Sydney's previous best of the season was 48.40m.
 
Sydney had an outstanding season for the Golden Rams Track & Field team.  Sydney opened the 2023 season by winning the Shot Put and Discus at the Savannah State Eye Opener on February 25. 
 
The Albany State Golden Rams track and field team participated in the CAU Panther Invite on Saturday, March 11, in Atlanta, Georgia.  Sydney Blackburn won the Women Discus Throw with a distance of 42.80m.  Sydney also finished in 3^rd place in the Women Hammer Throw with a toss of 37.75m.
 
Sydney Blackburn finished in 1^st place in the Discus with a throw of 153'3" at the Emory Spring Break Classic on March 17-18, at Emory University.
 
Sydney Blackburn won the Women's Discus with a mark of 48.32m at the Morehouse Relays held at the B.T. Harvey Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.
 
The Albany State University track and field team hosted the 2023 Alice Coachman Invitational on April 8, 2023. Sydney Blackburn won the Discus with a mark of 44.44m.
 
On April 27, Sydney was named to the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) 2023 Women's Outdoor Track and Field All-Conference First Team.
 
The Albany State Golden Rams women's track and field team finished in 4^th place at the 2023 SIAC Track & Field Championship on April 27-29, in Atlanta, Georgia.  Sydney Blackburn won 1^st place in the Women's Discus with a mark of 45.47m.  Sydney Blackburn finished in 3^rd place in the Women's Hammer Throw with a mark of 39.80m.
 
On Friday, May 5, the Albany State Golden Rams track and field teams participated in the Life University Last Chance Meet.  Sydney Blackburn won the Women's Discus with a mark of 45.14m. 
 
The Golden Rams track and field teams participated in the Lee University Last Chance Qualifier Meet at the LU Track Complex on Saturday, May 13, in Cleveland, Tennessee.  Over 100 teams competed in the Lee University Last Chance Qualifier Meet.  Sydney Blackburn finished in 2^nd place in the Women's Discus with a mark of 48.40m. 
 
On May 17, All South Region honors for the 2023 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field season were announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) following the conclusion of the regular season.  Sydney Blackburn was selected for the Women's Discus.
 
In 2022, Sydney Blackburn was named a 2022 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field First Team All-America by the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
 
Sydney is a junior from Pompano Beach, Florida. Sydney attended Highlands Christian Academy.
